Saturdays Are For Sven by Alter Ego for Sept PPU - Horror Movies!

Calling all stations!  Clear the airlines, clear all airlines for the big broadcast!!

September's PPU theme is Horror Movies!!  Alter Ego's contribution is Saturday's Are For Sven.  The inspiration was Chicago's TV personality, Svengoolie.  Svengoolie is the host of a TV show that airs both low-budget, classic horror and sci-fi movies.  He can also be seen on MeTV!  You can check out more about Svengoolie here.


Saturday's Are For Sven is a black crelly base with holo red microglitters to represent his shirt, purple metallic microglitters for the lining of his coffin and yellow metallic microflakes for Kerwyn (his smart aleck rubber chicken).

After one coat, polish looks like a dark brown (because of the yellow flakies) but with a second and third coat, it is totally black.  Great formula, however, my sample as a little on the thicker side.  A couple of drops of Orly Thinner and it was perfect.  I used 3 coats to make sure there was no vnl.

The polish dries a tad bit textured and matte but a generous top coat does the trick.  To sheer to stamp.  Looks great over black; it brings out the glitters and flakies.  Easy removal, no staining.

In the nail art photo below, I paired it with December Monthly Holo 2016 by 77 Nail Lacquer.  I also used Black stamping polish by Mundo de Unas and UC Halloween-03 plate, Sticky Situation and She Matters by Alter Ego and OTD QDTC.

My mani routine and a review for Indie Pickup

Trying to get my nails and nail desk back into shape after neglecting them for both a month and a half.  Today's agenda was to reorganize polishes, clean my desk and give myself a good mani.

Moved around polishes and dusted.  ✔
Cleaned nail desk.  ✔

Now for the feel good stuff, a mani.  From dusting and moving things around, my hands were super dry and dirty.  I get my trusty butter bowl out (yes, I am fancy) and fill it with some warm water.  I received some bath crumbs from Alter Ego to review for the first month of Indie Pickup.  I love Alter Ego's bath crumbs to use for a great mani soak.  This particular fragrance is Fantasia, exclusive for IPU's Musical theme.

First, the plastic jar is perfect and comes with a spoon.  What's better than that?  You can re use the jar!!  I scoop out about a teaspoon size of crumbs and add it to the water.  The fizz releases the most wonderful fresh citrus smell.  In go my hands.  The oils are so moisturizing!  My hands now are so soft, clean and smells great!  Dry pat and used Alter Ego's Coconut Lime Cuticle Oil.  I love taking a few minutes to pamper myself.  Now, my hands are ready for an amazing polish!

Fantasia Bath Crumbs sent is described as, "a sweet medley of fruits and spices."  "Top notes of fresh floral, grape, muguet, sweet spiced berries with a hint of citrus.  Mid notes of juicy spice, rose, lilac and jasmine.  Powder musk and amber at the base."  Alter Ego's bath crumbs consist of cocoa and unrefined shea butter, baking soda, citric acid, steralkronium hectorite, tapioca flour, slsa, polysorbate 80, essential oil and/or fragrance oils.

It's Spaaaace Octopuuuus!!

I totally had to spell it like that and Im sure you said it like that also! 

 Let me introduce you to Space Octopus.  Space Octopus was dreamed up by an admin's (the awesome Laura Callahan) husband, in color and name!  It's a fun polish with a great name to match!

Space Octopus is a blue gray jelly with silver, holo and blue glitters of different sizes.  Great jelly formula with three coats for total opacity.  Dries a little matte and textured but one coat of a glossy top coat cures both issues.  Too sheer to stamp.  Easy cleanup even with all the glitters.

In this next pic, I have paired it with Tinsel Belini by Top Shelf Lacquer.  Stamping was done with Curses! Foiled Again by Alter Ego and White by Mundo de Unas using BM-XL355 plate.

Mani used UNT Ready for Take Off (on 4 fingers, thumb goes bare to check for ease of removal and staining) and She Shines Top Coat by Alter Ego.
